After a period of sustained persistence, ActionCOACH Mandy Hildred was introduced to our company with the objective of reviewing our procedures, with particular emphasis on Sales & Marketing and to coach me.

I had initial reservations of investing financially into this area of development, but having made the commitment it soon became evidently clear that having external support from a professional coach allowed me as an idividual to view the direction and vision of the business more objectively, which has produced improved results financially, but more importantly improved significantly the way in which I now approach the business. Mandy provided support and assistance through coaching to introduce a new and fresh approach to generating new client leads and the marketing of the company. The results of which we have benefited from over the past three months; by way of increased sales and profit in excess of our monthly targets.

We are constantly testing & measuring our preformance and I have introduced an improved staff appraisal system which has lead to training needs of staff members being identified and delivered. We perform more effectively as a team.

Personally I have improved as an individual both 'on and off the pitch'.

Mandy is well known and respected within her field of expertise and the service she has provided to my company has been very professional.

I was introduced to Mandy Hildred of Action Coach in December 2009 at a networking event, and she started work with us in January 2010. From the outset Mandy was focused on getting the directors of the company to set a clear strategic direction for the business.

She played an instumental role at a time that was difficult period for our company. We had three fundamental problems: -

The need to restructure the company to not only cut costs, but also better align the skills of our workforce to the job they were doing.

To revisit our customer contact strategy throughout all forms of communication in order to develop more relevant and meaningful propositions.

To manage the slow transition of passing the business down from one generation to another.

Mandy understood these issues perfectly and was hugely influential in guiding the three company directors to take the decisions that were needed.

Mandy also introduced new techniques and tools based on sound business principles across a range of disciplines. This enabled us to view the business in a different way, and we still use these tools to great effect within our business. This was especially needed given the downturn of sales we were experiencing.

The 6 months burst of coaching that we undertook was beneficial and represented good value for our company. I am still in touch with Mandy and would consider using Action Coach in the future.

Prior to the coaching programme, HDTi Ltd was a sterotypical small business in it's former years. We had been operating for just 5 years and albeit initially our progress was steep, things had started to stagnate and the business and especially me, needed direction.

We had basic systems and procedures but there was a lack of role clarity and little or no attention to detail. At this time we very much concentrated on the 'technical' aspects of the business and I approached the business as a technician.

We had little or no control over costs associated with each job and as a consequence we were losing money in all sorts of areas. The focus was very much on getting jobs in to keep the workforce employed with little or no consideration for profitability. We did not have timely financial information to monitor our profitability and therefore the first time we identified we had a problem was upon the collation of the annual financial accounts.

Because we were always struggling for cash this put great pressure on management and in turn this pressure was invariably passed on to the team, even though in hindsight, it wasn't the teams fault that the business was struggling. 75% of my time was spent in the business mostly firefighting and chasing cash as soon as jobs were finished.

I was sceptical how business coaching would work for me and the business and it took me a while to settle into the coaching routine. I found it especially hard to get real clarity around my vision until I reached a point in at Christmas 2007 when Mandy got seriously tough with me and challenged me to go away and really decide what it was that I wanted for me, my family and the Team that worked for me.

In the New Year I came back excited and serious about where I was going and from that point onwards there was a real turning point where the coaching really kicked into action. There was a dawning that our business needed some radical change to improve the current position. Firstly, we set about really clarifying our vision and mission and understanding what was good about the business. We then had to find opportunities that would allow us to bring to bear what was good about us in profitable opportunities. We did some competitor analysis and found that there were operations like ours out there that were making good profit and we started to understand why and how they were doing it.

When Mandy first started mentoring me for The Healing Clinic, I was unsure exactly what I would get from it, as there were already so many things I was not able to get on with and I thought I did not need more "homework".
I soon realised that Mandy's homework was the most helpful thing I could spend time on, and it has had major benefits in all other areas.

I have learned so much from mandy, and been so thankful for her support over these last few months. It has been a very trying time, and I looked forward to our mentoring sessions as they were avery helpful highlight of my week.

I have been able to get a fresh perspective on my business and tom implement most of her suggestions, I take away tools I will continue to use for a long-term benefit to my business. I will regularly re-visit the work we have done together in order to remind myslef and keep myslef on track.

I have also begun sharing some of the work we have done together with my colleagues, and I expect to continue to do so into the future, which looks a lot rosier than it did this time last year.

I consider Mandy to be a long-term ally and will recommend her to anyone considering business mentoring.

"I have been working with Graeme for around 8 months now. I met him at a trade show which we were exhibiting at and felt Graeme was one of the good guys and so thought why not go to the free seminar? I hadn't been to anything like that before, I liked him and what he had to say, so over the following days and weeks we came up with a suitable coaching programme.

I didn't have anywhere near the knowledge I thought I had about running a business, since working with Graeme and I have grown in confidence as I know daily and weekly how our company is performing.
I have increased efficiency in one department by 40%, our sales are currently up on last year by over 20% a lot of which can be attributed to the work I have done with Graeme and the constant re-focus we do on what is important with in the business.

Coaching can be seen as a corporate only luxury, it does seem like a large investment and it is! BUT if I weren't making that money back and a little more besides I wouldn't be doing it, we aren't a huge business and yet we use this as a tool and certainly see Graeme as a member of staff who works with me and our company to improve it, just on a part time basis.
