The Disc Directory to take site national with furt

National expansion plans for The Disc Directory are now well underway after receiving a second tranche of funding from Finance South East (FSE) .

The funding will take the online business directory The Disc Directory to cover the whole of the UK with a database of over 2.3 million companies. The national website is expected to go live on 1 January 2009.

The Disc Directory has received two stages of funding and business support from FSE's Accelerator Fund; the first in early 2008 to help develop the company's market position and the second more recently to build its national presence.

John Pemberton, Director at The Disc Directory, said: "The funding and business support from FSE has been invaluable in getting us to this stage of expansion. Our national presence will open up significant opportunities previously unattainable, not least in attracting the nationwide organisations. We are already in talks with a number of national companies and franchisors that need cost-effective means of online marketing rather than the traditional advertising space driven listings."

Since 2007, the directory which focuses on business recommendations, has grown to cover three regions on the South coast with over 1000 advertisers. The business also provides a number of local councils and membership based organisations with tailored business directories.

Finance South East's CEO, Sally Goodsell said: "l am delighted that we were able to raise funds for The Disc Directory again in order to roll out their innovative plans nationally. It is very encouraging to see such rapid and effective growth from an early stage company."

About The Disc Directory
The Disc Directory is the trading name for Cade Directories, a limited company established in July 2006. It currently covers the majority of Hampshire and Dorset with a feedback led business directory.

The directory becomes more useful for both consumers and businesses each time it is used setting it apart from the mainstream directories. Consumers recommend the companies they use and the directory highlights those businesses with the strongest feedback. In the current economic climate, the ability for any business to stand out is particularly important.

The technology developed for the directory has also been adapted for other uses including the provision of business directories to organisations such as local councils e.g. Winchester City Council .

The company behind The Disc Directory was the first business ever to achieve Buy With Confidence status from Portsmouth City Council's Trading Standards in 2007 which means that it has been vetted and approved by Trading Standards to ensure it operates in a legal, honest and fair way.
