Test Valley Borough Council has launched a new online, searchable database of over 4,900 businesses throughout the borough. The directory which is now live on the council's current website has been developed in partnership with The Disc Directory, an online business directory provider.

The Council, which is committed to supporting local enterprise, has taken a major step in providing a technologically advanced business directory offering a free listing to every business in the Test Valley borough.

An outstanding feature of the online business directory is the ability for consumers to leave feedback and recommendations. These recommendations, once authenticated, will help consumers to source and ultimately use local Test Valley businesses.

Test Valley businesses can add themselves free of charge .

The directory provides over 20,000 search criteria and more than 1,200 service categories. Business listings can also include trade accreditation marques such as Buy with Confidence, Gas Safety Register and Good Salon Guide.

South coast company The Disc Directory , which is just about to take its own online business directory national, has developed and will maintain the Test Valley directory.

Cllr Peter Giddings, Economic Portfolio holder at Test Valley Borough Council, said "We are delighted to be working together with The Disc Directory on this initiative. The directory has a clear emphasis on service quality and will be a really valuable resource for people and companies seeking to buy goods and services. I am certain that it will strengthen Test Valley's reputation as a great place to do business, and am particularly pleased to be able to offer this support at such a difficult time for our local businesses."

John Pemberton, Director at The Disc Directory, said "Securing Test Valley Borough Council as a client is testament to the quality of the product we have developed. The Council looks to deliver cost-effective solutions that will provide a valued service for residents and council tax payers alike; we are elated to have been chosen to assist with this."
