Cheltenham's Online Directory is Launched

Philip Molden Jul 29 2009

For the first time, Cheltenham Borough Council has launched an online business directory, with a new, searchable database of over four thousand local businesses.

The directory - called the Cheltenham Local Business Directory - showcases some of the very best businesses in the area.
The new service, designed by The Disc Directory, will include some unique features not seen before, such as interactive maps for members of council run scheme, Cheltenham Business Pride, and a pre-paid recommendation card where customers can feedback their experiences to other users.
In addition, the directory will be available on CD-ROM, to provide an even more enhanced service for local businesses.

Graham Philpot, economic development officer at the council said: "We are delighted to be working together with The Disc Directory on this initiative, which has taken a major step in providing a technologically advanced business directory that offers a free listing to every business within the borough. The new 2009-2010 edition has a truly localised focus and will help businesses to source local suppliers and service providers more easily. It is a highly effective means of reaching key people across all business sectors, as well as being constantly updated on a monthly basis so that the directory always remains up-to-date and fresh."

Councillor Steve Jordan, leader of the council and lead member for economic development, said: ''We are committed to supporting local enterprise and are keen to promote Cheltenham's businesses as much as possible in this increasingly difficult economic climate. I am certain that it will strengthen Cheltenham's reputation as a great place to do business, and am particularly pleased to be using such a green and customer-focused format."

John Pemberton, joint managing director of The Disc Directory said: "The new directory is the most advanced we have ever produced. The council looks to deliver cost-effective solutions that will provide a valued service for their residents and businesses, and we are delighted to have been chosen to assist with this."

The new directory is available at from today.
