01865 522337 - Rip Off

Philip Molden Mar 17 2011

My father was phoned today from a company claiming to be windows technicians saying thay needed him to go onto his computer as his warranty had run out and fill out some forms, my father happily said he could not do it and they left a phone number 01865 522337.

I phoned them back and asked them a few questions and had the phone put down on me, they would not tell me who they were, their address so please be aware.

Amazingly they phoned me back, and asked me to login to www.support.me after asking a few more questions, admitted they were based in Banbury, they again put the phone down on me.

I would highly recommend not to do this, they can't work for Windows and must be trying to rip people off, my father is nearly 81 with a serious heart condition, what is the world coming to.

Comments back from e-mail sent out:-

John, this was in the newspaper, Its actually a VOIP number in India. They download a keystroke capture program onto the PC and trawl for passwords.

Had the same thing, I will leave it to your imagination of what I said in reply F!!*&**O*^%.

They are very persistent, in the end I rang BT and told them to bar this number, which they have done.

The same happened to me about 8 months ago.  they claimed to be from Microsoft and said I had a problem with my programme?  I told them that I would ask PC World to deal with it as my computer was bought from there !!!  They said that PC World would not know about it and asked if I could go on the computer and they would guide me through the problem.  I said they would have to phone another day as i was in the bath.  These guys were American  ( kept calling me Mam).  Their number came up on my phone, and when I told PC World,  they said they had already had several reports concerning the scam.

Thanks for the warning,

A friend of mine and I had similar experience.

The scam is that you sit by your machine with the telephone and they can upload your information through the telephone. My friend saw his machine being manipulated and managed to quickly put the phone down before they got any information.

B****ds!!
