World first for The Disc Directory with launch of

Philip Molden Mar 13 2008

For the first time ever, consumers have direct access to an online rating of businesses in the region which have been personally recommended by previous customers.

The idea is proving a huge success with both businesses and consumers and the very first Top 50 list of most personally recommended companies has just been launched.

The Disc Directory has adapted the idea of social networking with its online directory where customers can rate and comment on any business in the area. The positive feedback is then available online with The Disc Directory reporting website hits up more than 300 per cent on the same time last year.

The very first listing reveals the wide range of businesses which have been recommended by happy customers and is already proving a vital tool for consumers and professionals looking for anything amongst the 1200 categories from a good hairdresser through to an imaginative wedding photographer or speedy printing company.

The Disc Directory's Philip Molden said they had been overwhelmed with the sheer level of hits on the website and recommendations. "People value personal recommendations above everything else when looking for something new and to be able to take this concept and provide an online platform has really captured the imagination of people and businesses.''

He said that it was not surprising to find a financial advisor at the top of the most personally recommended list of businesses as this is such a personal decision, but the top 10 also includes hairdressers, a sign maker, a locksmith and a builder.

"We have more than 25,000 local companies listed in The Disc Directory and anyone can go online and leave a positive comment,'' said Philip.

"The concept is gathering momentum all the time and with the initial success in Portsmouth and Southampton we are now set to repeat the same success, and the value of personal recommendations around the country.''
